The Story
We all know the story of Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tinman and the Lion in the wonderful land of Oz but what happens when this story is put to all new music and lyrics, is saucy with black urban humour, the dances are injected with a blowtorch frenzy and its songs range from warm gospel glow to the rock beat of the early 80’s. You get a show jam packed with zany characters, comic one-liners and transportation into a new, funkier Land of Oz. 

There is something for all ages in this musical. The chorus in this show are residents of Emerald City, captives of the Wicked Witch of the West and even become the Yellow Brick Road. Lots of kids are needed for Munchkin Land and we need dancers to spin their way through the Tornado and to become the seductive Poppies.

The Characters
Dorothy 15-16 year old (look alike). She has not lost the capacity to dream and is completely obsessed with her dog Toto. 
Sings Soon As I Get Home, Be a Lion, and Home.
Aunt Em 40 yrs old up. Loves Dorothy but is frustrated at her dreaming. 
Sings the opening song The Feeling We Once Had.
Uncle Henry Speaking role only. 40 years up
Addaperle 20 years up. The zany Good Witch of the North. Tells Dorothy to take her dilemma and lay it on the Wizard. 
Sings He’s the Wizard
Scarecrow 18 years up. Very hip. Desperately wants a brain. Constantly harassed by crows.
Sings I Was Born the Day Before Yesterday. 
Must have good movement skills.
Tinman 18 years up. Has been rusted still for a long time. Cannot feel anything. Wants a heart! 
Sings Slide Some Oil to Me and What Would I Do if I Could Feel. 
Must have good movement skills.
Lion 18 Years up. A cowardly mammas boy. Currently receiving psychiatric counselling from an owl. 
Sings I’m a Mean Ole Lion and Be a Lion.
The Wiz 30 years up. Actually a conman from Omaha whose magic powers came from green glasses. 
Sings So You Wanted to See The Wizard and Y’all Got it!
Evillene Any age. Evil, evil, evil, evil! 
Sings Don’t Nobody Bring Me No Bad News.
Glinda Any Age. Gorgeous. Beautiful. Majestic. She tells Dorothy that she has the power to get home all by herself. 
Sings If You Believe.
Toto A child who can act like a dog for the entire show!
